I’ve tried a tonne of houmous recipes over the years and had mixed results. I’ve tried the true to basics recipes with expensive tahini, the variations with too much chilli and I’ve finally found a super basic but also super fool proof recipe that is very forgiving!
While making this, I realised that I was missing my usual tomato puree so I subbed it for one of my wee favs – Gran Luchito Paste and it was just as tasty! When using the tomato paste, this is syn free on Slimming World and is really fab in a HExB Pita!
1 x 400g tin chickpeas (drained)
1 x clove garlic
1 x tbsp lemon juice
1 x Roasted Pepper (in brine)
1 x tbsp tomato paste (or Gran Luchito Paste)
- Blitz all ingredients in a blender adding the water last.
- When it’s reached a smooth consistency, season to taste.
This keeps for 5-7 days in the fridge in a sealed container.
